Something is different

Something is different

Good evening folks!

Hope your preceding days, weeks, and months have been safe and enjoyable. It's been a crazy couple of weeks if you live in the Western hemisphere. Moving in tandem with the rest of the change, I've decided to officially (and permanantly) move my blog from WordPress to Ghost.

Intrusion detection told me that persistent threats had continued to attempt to hack my system ... not cool.

There were a couple of reasons for doing this. My WP intrusion detection told me that persistent threats had continued to attempt to hack my system, which is totally not cool. Not enough people were engaging with the site as it was. Finally, WP itself felt outdated and dull as a tool. Sure, it's useful enough as a simple platform and can be rolled out anywhere. But I'd rather be working with superior stuff, so here we are.

I hope you enjoy the cleaner, simpler look of the site. Everything should be easier to use on both desktop & mobile, and I've taken the time to direct my various subdomains at old projects that I've been able to hold ont0 (check my sub-site out at j.hartr.net if you're curious). This system however seems a thousand times better than the one we departed from. Goodbye to the endless plugins and tools: hello simple, direct management.

Outside of general international news, it's been a crazy bit for everybody. I think the harsh climate and general terror are bad for all of our minds. As I mentioned to a good friend of mine, nobody is living their best life right now. And there's not much that we can do about that until the world goes back to normal.

But normalcy, as one would've never guessed, has become a very rare commodity. Things are changing faster than ever before, and the world is turning into a hostile place for those who cannot adapt to the new environment. Now I'm not recommending we all take painful steps to grow gills or wings anytime soon. If anything, our leadership and direction will continue to change in response to what we ask of them. The question then becomes: what do we really want?

I for one would like to play the new Baldur's Gate. It seems pretty neat.

Anyway. Hopefully these changes improve my security stance for the better. All my old posts should still be available, some with new art. In general, I hope this is a more useful system for posting and sharing the stuff that I like. Based on the tests I ran in this particular entry, I think that's gonna be the case.

Best wishes friends; stay healthy, warm, and aware this winter. I'll be seeing you this spring, if not sooner. 💕
